About

Arrow Hill Homestead is a 5 acre homestead located in Northwest Georgia owned and operated by our family of 6.

We purchased this land in May of 2017 with the goal of raising as much of our own food as we can. We want to know where our food comes from, how it was raised and we want to nourish our growing children with the highest quality foods.

We have laying hens, sheep and pigs and raise pastured meat birds once or twice during the year. We have two large gardens and small orchards containing apple, pear, peach, plum and fig trees as well as blueberry bushes.

We both grew up on farms, met in the FFA and studied agriculture in college.  Since we married in May 2006, our desire has been to raise our children on a small farm.

John David holds a bachelors degree in Agriculture Communications and manages to combine those two interests. He works as a Director of Strategic Initiatives at a multi-site church by day and is a farmer in the mornings, evenings and weekends.

Rachel also has an Agriculture Communications degree. Her primary calling is to be a homemaker in this season of life, supporting John David, educating and nurturing her children as well as preparing three meals each day. Her favorite hobbies are gardening and writing so homesteading and blogging are natural creative outlets for her.

We have 4 children and we are so thankful that we have the ability to raise them in the country where they have ample room to play, explore, create and learn. We are educating our children at home using the Charlotte Mason Method. We have a desire for them to love learning and we’re learning that time spent in nature and in connection with the rhythms of the seasons is an excellent educational foundation for young children.

Paxton is 9 and loves reading, sports and Legos. Weston is 7 and is our little farmer boy – he owns a small egg laying business, 4 sheep, a rabbit and is a huge help on the homestead. Cecilia is 5 and loves baby dolls and dressing like a princess but also enjoys playing in the mud and being around the animals. Laura is 2 and knows nothing but life here on the homestead. She loves tractor rides, picking berries whether they’re ripe or not  and helping with any task we have going on.

We’re so glad you’ve found us and hope you enjoy reading about life on Arrow Hill Homestead.
